This year I'm turning 30. It's not a big deal... said nobody ever, and apart from planning to shower myself in Champagne and Gucci on July 27th, i.e D-day, I'm also planning to step it up in the maintenance/self preservation department. If you saw my diet, apart from my current Magnum addiction, you'd know I'm really healthy. I drink lots of water and generally take
really good fairly good care of myself.
When it comes to hair and make up I'm super low maintenance, I like natural everything. And by natural I mean moisturiser, primer, mineral powder, bronzer, high and low lights, brows brushed and filled, mascara, sometimes eye liner, sometimes a sweep of shadow and of course lip colour.
I remember my Mum telling me to start moisturising when I was about 13, which I did. Then, when I was 21, my friend Beth telling me that I shouldn't use body moisturiser on my face, "because it had more waxy elements that weren't good for the skin on my face." At the time I had no idea what she was talking about, but still went out and bought a face moisturiser straight away.
Skip forward to two weeks ago... planning my 30th birthday celebrations and feeling thankful that I’ve been moisturising daily with face moisturiser for 9 years, when a parcel and invitation arrived from my favourite Melbourne beauty team, [Mecca.]
It was labeled #SKINFLUENCER and I knew I was in for a skin education.
Today, in the Mecca South Yarra boutique I was consulted by Chris, a beautiful man with incredible passion and knowledge about all things skin.
We started with the Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Cleaner, designed to gently polished away impurities. This cleanser is an easy and welcome addition to my routine, with a genius name and delicious smell to boot.
Next we were onto our Serums. Sunday Riley Good Genes - because we all need good genes - for day, and Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol serum for night. Both, when applied to clean skin after cleansing, provide a dose of antioxidants and anti-aging properties to the skin - exactly what I need. :-)
Eyes were next. With fine lines starting to show, mostly from smiling, but also from shooting in the sun most days, I’ve been looking for the right eye cream and feel I’ve definitely found it in Verso Super Eye Serum. Designed to enhance the natural production of collagen, Chris showed me how to apply the serum, below the eyes and all the way out to the temples.
The last step in my daily routine was Perricome MD Face Finishing moisturiser for day and Colbert Soothe Cream for night. Another easy step to include, both of these moisturisers feel extremely luxurious and are the perfect completion to my new day and night routines.
Leaving with a serious glow, thanks to the layers of nourishment Chris had freshly applied, I am so excited to continue my skin evolution at home. After all it's not in the cover up, it's all in a good skin foundation.
MY MUST HAVES SO FAR...
