24 HOURS TO GO AND THE PACKING STARTS NOW.
With just over 24 hours before Melbourne designer Toni Maticevski opens MBFWA, it is definitely time to pack. Thankfully the shopping was all done at Westfield Doncaster the other day and I'm now looking at a rack full of beautiful clothes ready to be packed and taken to Sydney.
Tones of white, cream, oatmeal, grey, black and navy make for a minimalist feel, something quite surprising considering I would never have thought of myself as having a minimalist style. Silk, lace, knits both chunky and fine, linen, velvet and denim textures should make for some successful looks.
After going through all my ideas the other day with Rebecca in The Styling Suit and in my post about What To Wear, plus a few late night selfies to girlfriends, I have all my key pieces packed. Two dresses from Zimmermann, a cream knit from Country Road, a black turtle neck, gold earrings and velvet pants from Zara and grey Wittner booties, all mixed back with pieces I already own. It's really important to me to make sure fashion week is still about buying pieces I will wear for a long time and not just impulse purchases for the occasion. Favouring separates and being true to Melbourne style, I have quite a few combinations for each day and quite a few layers as options.
With my wardrobe sorted, and all my favourite make up and skincare from Mecca packed too, it's time to think about camera equipment and what will get the job done. After all I am there to work and apart from getting dressed in the morning, wont actually look in the mirror again until the day is done.
