Today I'm working at Turnbull Stakes day at Flemington. My outfit is from David Jones, I'm in an Ellery top and skirt, with a Gregory Ladna velvet headband, a black ribbon bow and my own Dolce and Gabbana shoes. Post #IFW I was going for more of a fashion look, rather then traditional race wear. Initially it was built around this Ellery skirt. I love the colour and thought I would wear it with something mauve for a feminine spring races feeling but after seeing this metallic turtle neck my vision totally changed.
7am. I'm up, showered and midway through breakfast when I realise I still have to decide how I'm wearing my hair... I'm really loving simple ribbon detail though, so this should be easy. Working the races, and needing to operate a camera/always having one pushed up against my face means I gave up on beautiful millinery years ago.
8am. Today's line up was intense in the skincare department. I'm also wearing a full coverage foundation for the first time in years (which is so not me) but this Stay All Day foundation from Stila just perfectly matched my skin tone and goes on really easily. I'm also wearing a powermatte lip pigment from Nars, which is amazingly long lasting(colour Save The Queen).
9:30. On my way, but first a soy chai latte from Kettle black.
11am. We're through the gates and straight to see the horses. Shooting for the Victorian Racing Club this year makes for a diverse shot list that doesn't only include fashion. I grew up riding, so have so much love for these beautiful animals.
12pm. Snap, Snap, Snap... my shot count is 879 for the morning... I shoot a lot on continuous mode though, so it's not a huge amount of content. This is a favourite shot so far. Orange and yellow are soooooooo the colours for the season. I love this detail for the lines in the skirt and the bag.
1pm. After shooting for a little while we spy Georgie and Bec as they arrive at the Hill Stand for their seven course degustation lunch... talk about jealous. Side note there wasn't a lot of millinery or hats around today, it seemed to be all about the headbands....
2pm. WINX will be racing soon. We spied Angela Menz and her dad celebrating the racing 'favourite' with a little bit of races fashion ... no Fashions on the Field today, so I was very happy to see these two and a little bit of theatrics. PS WINX won, yay. But I did not place a bet, boo.
3:30pm. The beautiful Laura Henshaw. Wearing a C/meo Collective dress and Country Road hat.
4pm. Bree Lauglin... someone I have been photographing at the races for so many years and the perfect last shot. Today she's wearing Nicola Finetti and is looking as gorgeous as ever.
6pm. Done. Shoes off and home after a quick Maccas run. It was my first time wearing these Dolce and Gabbana shoes, and after 16,000 steps today, my feet are totally killing me. Yay, to be done for the day. Now time for wine.
