On Wednesday we documented the much anticipated White Story event as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival in collaboration with Bank of Melbourne's #forthemakers campaign. The intimate lunch and parade was held in the White Story space, a collection of white minimalist rooms full of textures and styling details - neon light, fabric tubes, baby breath, ceramics, linen, furniture, product - all white.
As guests anticipated the parade, the mood was tranquil, a strong contrast to the heat of the day and the backstage vibe as models milled about having final touches seen to and taking selfies.
The parade itself started on the street. Some of our favourite moments were as the models walked across the road to the main event. An unbroken line of exceptional everyday beauties in all shapes and sizes, following the leader and wearing nothing but shirts. With beauty by Mecca Cosmetica, the girls embodied a polished natural aesthetic as they entered the main room and weaved through white structures before parading around the table of guests.
This was a first look at White Story's new collection. The classic clean crisp white shirt reimagined with details of silk, ribbon, and lace. A palette of white and black. Details varied, with closed and open necks, sheer and opaque fabrics, traditional and elongated cuffs. Something for every wardrobe, and for every day.
